Introducing Yourself at a Beauty Pageant

Hello I’m Erica Saylors and this is my assistant, Ashley Charleton. Today I’m going to talk about how to introduce yourself in a private interview for a pageant. Ashley is going to enter the room, she’s going to stop, now if the judges are sitting here, she’s not going to come this close because its actually going to get in their own personal space. A lot of young women actually try to shake the hands of judges when they come into the room. That actually can be a mistake because again you don’t want to get in their personal space. So keep a respective distance. Ashley take a couple steps back, make sure you keep good posture, your hands down to your sides, put a smile on your face and then you’ll begin speaking with confidence. The next thing you need to do after you walk into the room is introduce yourself. First you need to tell your name, where you’re from and what your platform is. Thank you Ashley. If I were the contestant I would walk into the room and first I would say my name. It’s also good to say instead of hi or howdy, make sure you say something like good afternoon I’m Erica Sailors. The next thing you want to say is where you’re from. I’m from South Texas and then finally say what your platform is. My platform is volunteerism, I’m very passionate about it and I have been serving my community for four years through my platform. Finally tell them something interesting about yourself, for example, if you ride horses or if you’re in swimming competitions tell them about that. Just make sure you convey something special about yourself so that they can set you apart and so you come across as a unique individual to them.
